EQP (Equipped)

EQP, short for Equipped , is a term from the cycling world that describes how a bicycle is equipped as standard. It indicates which components and accessories are already fitted at the factory and which additional features make the bicycle "ready to ride".

background

In the bicycle sector, there is a wide range of equipment options – from just a frame to a fully equipped bike. A bicycle with the EQP designation is considered "equipped," meaning it is ready to ride and includes all essential components such as gears, brakes, saddle, lights, and sometimes also mudguards, a luggage rack, or a bicycle computer.

Importance for buyers

The EQP label helps customers quickly identify whether they are buying a bicycle that can be used immediately or whether additional investment in components is necessary. This is particularly useful for commuters, recreational cyclists, or beginners looking for a ready-to-ride bicycle.

Typical examples of EQP equipment:

  • Gearbox and brakes (usually fitted as standard)

  • Mudguards and luggage racks on city or trekking bikes

  • Lights (front and rear)

  • Bell and reflectors

  • Saddle and grips

An EQP (Equipped) bicycle is more than just a frame with wheels: it's a fully equipped, ready-to-ride bicycle that already includes most of the necessary components. For buyers, this means convenience, time savings, and peace of mind when choosing a bicycle.
