The Steps E 6000 e-drive system is designed for touring. Whether on asphalt or dirt roads, off-road the E 6000 provides powerful support and, with its 60 Nm of torque at 250 watts, also invites you to venture onto a trail.

It's slightly louder than the top model, but the dimensions and weight are identical. This offers solid and comfortable e-MTB technology for longer tours and, thanks to the narrow Q-factor of 177 millimeters (crank width measurement), allows for a natural pedaling motion, especially when the assistance is switched off.

Thanks to its compact design and high rigidity, power is transferred directly to the road with minimal loss. The support levels Eco, Trail, and Boost can be selected and individually adjusted using the E-Tube smartphone app, for example, according to training level or current physical condition.

The high-performance model - Steps E 8000 MTB

The flagship of the Shimano Steps family is the high-performance Steps E 8000, specifically designed for e-MTBs. Despite its maximum 70 Nm (250 W) output, it is one of the lightest e-bike drive systems available on the market, weighing in at just 2.8 kilograms.

The compact design allows bike manufacturers to use shorter stays, a plus for easy handling and agile riding, as required on tight trails. The cadence regulates the smooth and consistent electric assistance, ensuring relaxed uphill rides.

The long-lasting 504 Wh lithium-ion battery provides a range of approximately 100 kilometers in Eco mode, even with ascents of around 800 meters. The Steps E 8000 offers three support levels up to 25 km/h: Eco, Trail, and Boost (the latter providing 300 percent assistance), as well as a Walk mode for pushing the e-MTB.

Gears are changed via the intuitive Firebolt switch, whose ergonomic design is specifically tailored to the needs of e-MTBs. The handlebar-mounted display shows the selected gear, the assistance level, and the battery range.

The Powerful One - Steps EP8

The EP8 is the latest model in the Steps E drive series and, with 85 Nm of torque at 250 watts, delivers even more power that is also easily controllable. In short, the EP8 is smaller, quieter, and more powerful than the other models.

The sensitive response ensures optimal control of the e-bike at all times and proves its worth especially on steep sections and challenging trails. At 2.6 kilograms, it's almost 300 grams lighter and operates virtually silently. This is also thanks to the innovative motor housing, which incorporates heat-conducting magnesium materials that deliver consistently good performance even under heavy load.

The resistance in the EP8 motor itself is now 38% lower than before. This makes pedaling significantly easier above 25 km/h, ideal for riders who want to conserve battery power on longer tours.

The power comes from one of three available batteries, which are either mounted on the downtube or fully integrated into the frame and offer long-lasting performance with 504 Wh or 630 Wh capacities. Thanks to a fast-charging function, all Steps batteries can be recharged to 80 percent in approximately two hours. This provides a range sufficient for even ambitious bikepacking adventures on a mountain bike or trekking bike.
