Jan Sommer in second place in the sprint ranking – Andrin Züger shines on the mountain
The challenging and mountainous Vuelta a Asturias has begun – and the MYVELO Team has already made a strong impression on the first stage! The UCI 2.1 tour in northern Spain is one of the most traditional multi-stage races on the Iberian Peninsula and attracts WorldTour teams like UAE and TotalEnergies year after year. The latter is even fielding its full Tour de France squad this year. This makes it all the more remarkable how our young German-Swiss team held its own in the field.
Summer in sprint mood again 💨
Jan Sommer (Andwil, St. Gallen) once again proved he's in impressive form. After his convincing performance on Easter Sunday at the Tour de Doubs , where he secured the sprint special classification, he also showed his full potential in Asturias:
👉 Twice second in intermediate sprints
👉 Currently 2nd place in the overall sprint ranking
A strong start for the sprint-strong rouleur, who will definitely have his eye on the green jersey in the coming days.
Züger climbs into the top 10 of the mountain classification ⛰️
MYVELO was also at the forefront on the mountain: Andrin Züger (Felsberg near Chur), our climbing specialist from Graubünden, rode an attentive race and stayed in a consistently good position throughout the entire stage:
👉 6th place in the mountain classification
👉 Currently best MYVELO rider in the overall ranking in 39th place
This makes him one of the strongest riders among the WorldTour teams – a great achievement in a field of this quality.
Next stage already today – MYVELO all at the start 🚴
Stage 2 is already on the agenda today: 144 km from Benia de Onis to Pola de Lena , with once again challenging terrain. The entire MYVELO team is still fully present and ready to build on yesterday's performance.
Attacks by Jan Sommer on the sprinter’s jersey are not out of the question – excitement is guaranteed!
